Kim began piano study with Dr. Wendall Ralston at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma at the age of 5 when her parents realized that she could play music by ear. Kim continued her study with Dr. Ralston through her teenage years.
Kim began participating in Piano Guild competitions at the age of 9 and continued competing through her teenage years. She was awarded a Superior Rating, the highest rating, for each competition. By the age of 10, Kim began composing her own piano compositions.
As an adult, Kim has obtained Peabody Conservatory training on piano and guitar. She has also received guitar training from well known guitarists such as Maurice Arenas who has a Master's Degree in Music Composition from Peabody.
Kim completed her education with a Master's Degree in Teacher's Education. Kim uses her insights with music, teaching education, conservatory training, as well as methods in The Orff approach and Jaques-Dalcroze Eurhythmics to give each of her students a well rounded musical experience that is tailored to each of their own individual needs. Kim teaches the Russian technique of Leon Conus which allows the students' playing to stand out above all others.
Kim is a musician in Frederick, MD. Kim is also the founder and owner of Kim Perseghin's Studio for Musical Minds In New Market, MD. Kim teaches piano lessons in New Market, MD as well as guitar lessons in New Market, MD.
She also composes on both piano and guitar. Her current CD of original piano compositions, "Minor Arpeggio", can be found on iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon. "Minor Arpeggio" has been featured on radio in Spain as well as on radio in Washington DC.
Kim has also performed up and down the East Coast of the United States, including Tennessee as a singer/songwriter with her guitar.
Kim also enjoys writing poetry, drawing, painting, and taking photographs. In addition to her hobbies, she loves spending time with her family which includes her husband, son, and puppy, Harley.
