This is a weekly private half hour class for beginning students, ages 6 through adult,. Kim introduces the students to basic technique, the keys on the piano, the notes on both the treble and bass clefs, and the value of notes. Students learn how to read music notation on both treble and bass clefs as well as play basic songs in the Key Signatures of C and G. Students also learn introductory rhythm and timing exercises on a variety of percussion instruments as well as develop finger strength with simple finger exercises on the piano. This class is intended to be an introductory class into piano only.
This is a weekly 45 minute class for ages 6 through adult. It includes, learning music theory, music technique, sight reading music, writing music on staff paper, and playing duets on the piano with Kim. Every week, the student will work on scales and chords according to the circle of fifths along with finger exercises for technique. The student will learn more complex rhythms with a variety of percussion instruments. Each student will also play select pieces of music that reinforce the scale and chord work for the week. Students will learn a variety of music including classical, jazz, rhythm & blues, and modern rock.
This is a weekly one hour class for middle school students, teenage students, and adults who have reached an advanced level of playing. The class teaches the students how to create their own music using music theory. Students write their own music on staff paper and learn how to record as well as share their music with the world. Students also learn advanced music theory such as jazz as well as continue playing a variety of genres of music at an advanced level.
This is a weekly half hour, 45 minute, or full hour course for guitar lessons in New Market, MD. The lessons are designed for students, ages 8 through adult. It includes learning music theory, reading music, writing music, and playing music on guitar. Every week the student will work on scales and chords according to the CAGED system to learn the fret board along with finger exercises for technique and strength. Scales will include the pentatonic scales along the major and minor scales according to the circle of fifths. The student will study more complex rhythms with a variety of percussion instruments. The student will also play select pieces of music that reinforce the scale and chord work for the week. Each student will learn a variety of music including classical, jazz, rhythm & blues, and modern rock. In addition, each student will learn music theory and apply it to their own musical creations.
This is a weekly 45 minute class for ages 65 years and older. The class helps develop finger agility and strength through a variety of finger exercises. The class teaches the students how to play music of their choosing. From old classics to new pieces, Kim teaches the students how to read the music, where to put their hands on the piano, and how to play the pieces for personal enjoyment.
This is a weekly 30 minute class for ages 4 and 5 years of age. The class teaches basic rhythm using a variety of percussive instruments. The class also teaches basic technique, how to read music, and simple pieces while allowing the student to move and experience the music through their bodies. This is a pre-beginning class to piano.
